"Y'all are amazing, I could never do anything like that."
"Those boys are so lucky to have y'all."
"You are so brave."
"We're just glad they have somewhere safe to be right now."
"You're such an inspiration."
"I've told so many people about you and what you're doing."
{I wonder if inwardly they are thinking "you're crazy."}
The words do not offend me. I am not ashamed of them. But the truth is...
...we are not amazing. We take it day by day. We didn't know we could do this either until they arrived.
...our boys are blessed to be cared for by their Heavenly Father. He knows when a single sparrow falls, and He watches over, and provides for these three boys.
...we are not brave. We are scared, oftentimes insecure, and we don't know what we're doing. But we are trusting Him, and asking Him for wisdom.
...we praise God that we are able to provide them with a safe home. He has provided for our needs, and we are merely sharing our blessings with them.
...if we inspire anything, please be inspired by what God is doing through us. He daily equips us. He daily sustains us.
...if you share our story, please share that He called us to do this and we are merely being obedient.
I do not see us as brave, inspiring, or amazing.
But we are trying, trying desperately to be obedient. To daily pursue the long journey towards obedience. Obedience to the One who has called us and chosen us for this daunting task.
For me, for us, the practice of faith is daily asking for His strength. His protection. His wisdom. His favor.
What does the practice of faith look like for you right now?

yes! i have been so discouraged by the responses from people regarding fostering, and i am talking about our fellow sisters in the Lord! one of the comments that really get's me and i restrain myself from grabbing them by the shoulders and saying, is any version of the 'it takes a special person to do [fostering]'. NO!!! i'm not special!?! i'm WILLING! i don't have anything that you don't also have available to you in our Lord and Savior! each comment is an opportunity to educate and testify and remind myself of the very same things i am saying to them. :)
I'm so glad I'm not the only one!! Thanks Luann!
